Using ‘student voice’ to influence change towards an Anti-Racist approach
At Oasis Academy Media city, we have used student voice to influence change within the school. Student voice was collated in various ways; surveys, art and focus groups.
I would like to share the reflections of a year 10 student (14 years old), reflecting on her experiences related to racism through spoken word. As an outcome, student feedback has been used to dictate the CPD schedule and staff training aligned to becoming an anti-racist school for example, how to address microaggressions (everyday racism), assessment bias and decolonising the curriculum as a whole-school approach.
